How to measure up for a new hot tub cover?
There are 2 ways of measuring for a new hot tub cover. If you’ve got a current cover on your spa and it fits perfectly fine. Simply take a tape measure and measure your tub across length and width. Next, you’ll want to measure your skirt that’s from the bottom of your cover to the bottom of the acrylic. You want to provide enough length to cover the acrylic so you don’t see it when you’ve got the cover on the spa.
After, if you have rounded corners, you’ll want to get a carpenter’s square and place it up to the corner. Where the carpenters square starts to come away from your tub that will be your radius.
The second way to measure your tub without a cover is similar to the way we would measure for a cover if there was a cover on there. You’ll want to start out by measuring the length and width of your tub. Next, you’ll want to measure your skirt going from the top of the acrylic on the spa to the bottom of the acrylic of your spa.
Lastly, you’ll want to measure your radius by using a carpenters square and place it up to the corner. Where the carpenters square starts to come away from your tub, that’s your radius.
Note, skirts do tend to shrink over their life time and so we recommend going anywhere to half an inch to an inch longer than the length of your acrylic.
